My Journey to Write & Inspire Others

The Journey to Fulfilling My Dream

One day, I'd love to write a book - it's on my bucket list. When I finished school, my aspiration was to become a journalist.

However, life had other plans for me, and I found myself heading in different directions. At 18, I fell in love with my husband, and perhaps as a result, my motivation for university and subsequent grades suffered. I've always been in a hurry to reach the next phase of life, which could be another reason for this unexpected detour.

Consequently, I made the decision to pursue a proper job and switched my degree to business. I’ve no regrets, though, as this along with other sound choices supported me to create a truly wealthy life. Nevertheless, the desire to write a book has always lingered within me.

Over the years, I've toyed with various ideas, ranging from writing a romance novel (inspired by my youthful and naïve fascination with Danielle Steele's "classics", I did start one…) to a heartfelt tribute to my grandparents' extraordinary love story. Their tale began at the end of World War II, spanning two continents and many years of living apart before they could finally unite in marriage. Unfortunately, my grandfather passed away a couple of years ago, leaving my beautiful Nanny behind after more than 70 years of marriage. It's truly a beautiful story, and one day, I hope to pen it down.

This blog marks a significant step toward fulfilling my dream of writing a book. It represents the culmination of my studies and work in marketing for over twenty years, my role as a wealth and mindset coach, my passion for writing, and my journey as a mother to four teenage children.

Through my writing, I aspire to entertain, assist, and inspire other women by sharing my life experiences and the challenges I encounter while navigating this chapter of my life. If I'm fortunate, it may eventually lead me to write that book I've always dreamed of.

Navigating Self-Discovery

A few years ago, I began to manifest this idea and discussed it with those closest to me. I immersed myself in podcasts, books, and research about other bloggers. It’s been a journey of self-discovery, and my mindset has undergone a positive transformation.

Much of the content I consumed could be categorised as 'self-help.' This subject has always fascinated me. When I was a stay-at-home mum with my babies, I religiously watched Oprah and Dr Phil (along with Sex and the City, my all-time favourite!).

In this recent immersion, it has not only boosted my confidence to take the leap of faith and establish my own coaching business but also enhanced various aspects of my life - such as raising teenagers, being a mum, wife, and friend - allowing me to make the most of the life I have.

This period of self-reflection and growth was necessary for me to overcome my fears of putting myself out there and discover my purpose. I realised that my purpose is not only to entertain but also to help myself and other women who choose to make changes to find more meaning in their lives, just as I have.

Cultivating a Positive Mindset

Among the most significant changes I've made are the practices I've incorporated into my daily routine for self-care. After reading and listening to the countless benefits these practices can have on one's life, I decided to give them a try. Now, writing about these practices forms the foundation of my business.

These practices include meditating twice daily, using a free guided meditation app called Insight Timer. I also keep a journal and strive to practice gratitude every day. I've noticed that I feel calmer, and I'm certain that I have a more positive outlook for the day and that I sleep better at night, after focusing on the good in my life and simply taking a moment to breathe through the rest.

Of course, engaging in physical activity, spending quality time with family and friends, and indulging in a good bottle of wine or a mean margarita are long-standing, enjoyable pastimes that I hold dear. However, adding a few healthy habits to balance out my life has proven to be beneficial. As my mum always said, everything in moderation.

I now wholeheartedly believe in the power of mastering your mindset, implementing savvy wealth-building strategies, and dissolving those pesky limiting beliefs. That way, you cultivate a positive mindset, harness your unique strengths, and create a life that’s full of joy, abundance, and purpose.
